Role introduction...

As the Accountant you will report directly to the Founder/CEO and be responsible for preparing financial accounting records that help inform business decisions, whilst ensuring a smooth running of day to day financial operations. Please note, this role is full-time based in our Alexandria office with 1 day a week from home.

Some of the things you'll be working on...

• Managing day-to-day accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger activities.
• Conducting financial analysis and generating accurate and timely financial reports to the executive team.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize financial processes, resolve financial discrepancies and enhance efficiency.
• Overseeing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial records on a regular basis.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting policies, regulations, and industry standards.
• Providing valuable insights and recommendations for financial improvements.
• Provide leadership and coaching to Assistant Bookkeeper.

Experience you'll need...

• Qualification/Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Strong financial management and accounting skills, as well as excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Natural relationship builder with proven experience collaborating and influencing leadership teams.
• Broad experience with accounting and payroll software, with experience recommending and implementing new systems.
• Intermediate to Advance skills in Excel.
• Experience operating in a start up environment is highly desirable.
