Senior Corporate Accountant (12-month FTC)

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Based in our Australian head office in the heart of Sydney CBD, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting functions of assigned sections and group companies. This includes the preparation of financial reports, statutory accounts, and coordination of year-end audit activities. Your role is crucial in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant laws and regulations.
This is a full-time position on a 12-month fixed-term contract with a hybrid working model, offering a 2-day WFH option.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Perform journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and preparation of financial and management accounts for assigned group companies.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to management and head office.
- Provide support for budgeting and forecasting activities of group companies.
- Check and approve payments in adherence to financial controls and policies.
- Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS).
- Prepare statutory accounts for various entities.
- Coordinate the external audit process, including providing information and explanations to external auditors for annual audits.
- Serve as an advisor to business departments, group companies, and general employees on accounting, budgeting, and compliance to enhance internal controls.
- In charge of, or assist in ad hoc work as required by the Accounting or Business Department General Managers and Management.
- Support CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.
- Collaborate with other accounting team members to achieve overall department goals and objectives.
ABOUT YOU:
- CPA/CA qualified with 4+ years post qualification experience in corporate accounting and financial reporting.
- Proven experience in a senior accounting role.
- Strong technical and analytical competency including tax effect accounting.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advance level of Excel proficiency.
- Eligible to work in Australia with full working rights.
