Australian National University (ANU)
1 year full-time
An elite one-year postgraduate honours program in International Business at ANU that combines advanced research methodology with an independent thesis project. Designed for graduates seeking to develop high-level research capabilities and in-depth expertise in international business for careers in consulting, academia, or senior management roles.
Applicants must hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor Degree or international equivalent completed within the last two years that satisfies the requirements for completion of an ANU International Business major or equivalent university study. A weighted average mark equivalent to ANU 75% is required, calculated from 36 units of eligible courses (excluding 1000-level introductory courses) with the highest marks. Written approval from the Honours Convener is mandatory. All applicants must meet program-specific academic and non-academic requirements, English language requirements, and admission is on a competitive basis subject to supervisory capacity and approval from the relevant Academic College.
The program comprises three compulsory research methodology courses that provide foundational knowledge in research design and methods specific to international business. Students complete one supervised applied topic course that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application. The centerpiece is an independent research thesis undertaken over the entire year, with major emphasis occurring after completion of coursework. This thesis demonstrates students' capacity to perform high-level independent research and develop in-depth knowledge of their chosen research topic. Candidates participate in the weekly Research School of Management Seminar Series, providing exposure to current research and the opportunity to present their proposed thesis research.
ANU ranks among the world's very finest universities with nearly 100,000 alumni including political, business, government, and academic leaders globally. The university has graduated remarkable people from every part of the continent and all walks of life.
