Ageing Australia
6 weeks
A 6-module leadership development program for aged care professionals at levels 2-3 of the ACLCF, combining interactive workshops with practical tools to build essential leadership capabilities including communication, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and strategic decision-making.
This program is specifically designed for current and aspiring leaders at Levels 3 and 2 of the Australian Aged Care Leadership Capability Framework, though Level 1 leaders may also find it valuable as a refresher. Level 3 includes front-line managers such as care coordinators, service coordinators, registered nurses, and team managers. Level 2 includes mid-level leaders or middle management responsible for multiple teams or entire services, such as directors of nursing, care managers, facility managers, and quality managers. Participants should have access to an individual device to participate in the online workshops. No specific technical prerequisites are required beyond basic computer literacy and internet connectivity.
Module 1: Leading with Style introduces a framework for understanding human personality and behaviour patterns, enabling leaders to leverage their leadership style and flex their approach to fit different contexts. Module 2: Emotional Intelligence, Resilience and Confidence focuses on developing emotional intelligence, managing stress, making effective decisions, and inspiring positive action in teams. Module 3: Conflict Literacy teaches leaders to navigate tensions and disagreements constructively, harnessing conflict energy for creativity and development. Module 4: Confident Conversations develops skills in courageous, open dialogue and authentic feedback to build trust and high-performing teams. Module 5: Decision-Making and Delegation covers making timely decisions under uncertainty and encouraging teams to step up into higher levels of decision-making. Module 6: Strategic Doing teaches planning and action strategies aligned with vision, mission, values, and contemporary aged care demands.

Participants gain the confidence and skills to lead through periods of rapid change, manage high-pressure situations, and foster resilient, high-performing organizational cultures in the evolving aged care sector.
